Hey guys, in this video, I want to talk about the natural selection that’s happening right now in the world of developers. Some people are going to make it and some people are not going to make it – that’s just the facts.
I recently received a comment that really made me think. Leo Dragonheart74 wrote, “What’s the point of even studying programming anymore? You can just use Chat GPT4 for everything. What’s to prevent it from being used by the buyer directly? Right now, everyone is out of a job. What’s the point of even promoting your online coding school when we can just use this program to create websites?”
Well Leo, let me tell you – forget about my online coding school for a second. The real problem here is that you’re ready to give up and not even bother learning how to code. You might be thinking, “Hey, this Chat GPT thing can write any type of text you tell it. It can build a whole website for me. It can sell products online. I don’t need to learn how to do any of that stuff.”
But let me remind you of something. In the old days, there were carpenters who used manual tools to build things. When electric tools came out, do you think most carpenters just said, “Forget it, I’m not going to learn how to use these new tools. I’ll just stick with my old manual ones”? Of course not! They adapted and learned how to use the new tools to their advantage.
Or, imagine someone in the early 1900s riding around in a chariot pulled by a horse in New York City. One day, they see a car and think, “Why would I bother learning how to drive a car? There are probably people out there who can do it better than me. I’ll just stick with my horse-drawn chariot.” Can you imagine how ridiculous that would be?
Artificial intelligence, like Chat GPT, is just a tool. It’s going to kick off the natural selection process and some of us are going to thrive and survive while others won’t make the cut. But which one do you want to be? Do you want to be the person who is already clocking out and giving up, or do you want to be the one who adapts and learns how to use these new tools to your advantage?
The definition of natural selection is the process through which species adapt to their environment. It’s the engine that drives evolution. So don’t be afraid of change and don’t be afraid to learn new things. Embrace the natural evolution of developers and you’ll come out on top.
