Today, I’ll give you some tips for creating a story with ChatGPT and illustrating it in Midjourney.

Introducing GPT: The Ultimate Storytelling Workshop

Are you ready to unleash your inner author? Look no further than GPT, the revolutionary text generation tool that can turn you into a master storyteller in no time. Pair GPT with an image generation tool like mid-journey, and you’ve got a powerful storytelling workshop at your fingertips.

You Don’t Need to be a Writer to Create a Story

That’s right, you don’t need to be a professional writer to create a captivating story with GPT. Whether you’re a fan fiction enthusiast or a parent looking to write a children’s story with your own kids, GPT has got you covered. The possibilities are endless.

Creating a Story with Chat GPT and Illustrating it with Mid-Journey

One of the most exciting ways to use GPT is by creating your own “Choose Your Own Adventure” story. These interactive fictions are known for their branching narratives, allowing readers to guide the story with their choices. But with GPT, your choices are endless.

Start by telling GPT what type of story you want, giving it details or any ideas you have. These may be very detailed or more general. You can describe the main characters, the setting, and the general plot of the story. Give GPT enough information to get started, but don’t feel like you need to figure out every single detail. Leave some room for creativity and surprise.

For example, I started by asking GPT to write a mystery story for a young child. My initial idea was very general, but GPT got to work right away. The result was fine, but a bit predictable. I actually wanted something a little cuter, maybe with animal detectives.

It’s important to note that your first result isn’t your only result. If you don’t like what you get, ask for a change. And because GPT gave the character a name, you can use that name to refer to the character in all future communication. I decided to switch my detective’s sidekick from a fox to an animal other than a pup, something smaller and less expected. And now Watson is an energetic campster.

Writing Fan Fiction and Established Characters

If you’re looking to write some fan fiction and you have established characters, ask GPT to describe the specific character or style you’re looking for. This way, you’ll know if the chatbot is familiar with the character or style and you’ll be able to prime it to write in this particular voice.

GPT may launch right into a story or be more general in response. For example, I asked GPT for a film noir mystery with a supernatural twist, with GPT playing the detective. At first, I got a lecture on film noir, which wasn’t what I was after at all. So I asked GPT to fill in the details. Be direct and tell GPT what you want. I wanted the bot to start writing a mystery, and that’s exactly what it did.
