The AI Upscaling Test
The AI Upscaling Test was performed on two workstations: Lenovo ThinkStation P620 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S5. The two workstations were equipped with dual RTX 6000 GPUs, so they performed well in our AI test. In the end, the ThinkStation P620 took the lead with its dual GPUs and the TRACBench benchmark.

Samsung’s AI upscaling
AI upscaling is a feature that allows you to watch upscaled videos in high-definition. Using machine learning, AI upscaling works to improve the overall image quality of the source video, making it look crisper and more detailed. It works in many ways to improve video quality, from repairing compression-induced distortion to enhancing image depth and color.
While AI upscaling is a promising feature, it’s not perfect. In some cases, the upscaled output is mediocre or downright bad. For example, 38 minutes of a 43-minute video may be rendered beautifully while five minutes may be badly upscaled. It’s important to remember that this is a new field, so the final output quality can vary greatly.
The Real-ESRGAN AI Upscale Test is a performance benchmark for image processing algorithms. It uses Nvidia T4 GPU hardware to compute predictions. Generally, it takes around 15 minutes to complete a prediction. This test is designed to evaluate how well a model upscaling algorithm performs on high-quality images.
