The AI Upscaling Test
The AI Upscaling Test was performed on two workstations: Lenovo ThinkStation P620 and Samsung Galaxy Tab S5. The two workstations were equipped with dual RTX 6000 GPUs, so they performed well in our AI test. In the end, the ThinkStation P620 took the lead with its dual GPUs and the TRACBench benchmark.

It also offers more options when it comes to configurations and features.
The ThinkStation P620 is a powerful air-cooled workstation that offers a glimpse into the future of content restoration and upscaling. Its AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X and Pro 3995WX processors are Turing-based, giving it superior power and performance.
Samsung’s AI upscaling
AI upscaling is a feature that allows you to watch upscaled videos in high-definition. Using machine learning, AI upscaling works to improve the overall image quality of the source video, making it look crisper and more detailed. It works in many ways to improve video quality, from repairing compression-induced distortion to enhancing image depth and color.
While AI upscaling is a promising feature, it’s not perfect. In some cases, the upscaled output is mediocre or downright bad. For example, 38 minutes of a 43-minute video may be rendered beautifully while five minutes may be badly upscaled. It’s important to remember that this is a new field, so the final output quality can vary greatly.
Real-ESRGAN
The Real-ESRGAN AI Upscale Test is a performance benchmark for image processing algorithms. It uses Nvidia T4 GPU hardware to compute predictions. Generally, it takes around 15 minutes to complete a prediction. This test is designed to evaluate how well a model upscaling algorithm performs on high-quality images.
AI upscaling is a promising technology, but the results are often not very good, and some are downright bad. For example, 38 minutes of a 43-minute video may be upscaled beautifully, while the remaining five minutes may have a poor upscale quality. In the same professionally produced television episode, the final upscale quality can vary wildly. This is because AI upscalers are still quite new in the field.
Topaz Video Enhance AI
Topaz Video Enhance AI is an all-in-one video editing app that helps you enhance the quality of your videos. It uses AI technology to edit each frame with accuracy. It also has the ability to restore old, low-resolution videos. And it even allows you to make slow-motion videos look incredible.
Topaz Video Enhance AI features a new interface and two new AI models. It also has an improved preset manager and preview options. However, Topaz Video Enhance AI is not without its problems. The program may crash a few times, requiring a reboot. While this rarely happens, it may take more than one try to get the results that you need. The application may also fail to initialize after using the GPU.
AviSynth
There are some pros and cons to using AI upscalers. For one, the output quality can be very good or bad. A 43-minute television episode can be upscaled beautifully or badly, and the quality can vary widely even within the same professional-quality episode. Another drawback is that this technology is still relatively new.
The Topaz Video Enhance AI and AviSynth Video Enhance AI are two software options for upscaling videos. Both software products have a wide range of upscale settings, but there are some notable differences. While AviSynth is the better product, some video editors may prefer Topaz Video Enhance AI. The latter produces ugly errors when used to upscale videos up to two times AHQ.
